World Rivers Day

  Events this year will be virtual and in-person. Many physical events will focus on educational and public awareness activities, while others will include cleanups, habitat restoration projects, streamside plantings, and community riverside events. Activitives of a digital nature may include photo contests, school projects, the launching of new campaigns, online essays and poems, the announcement of a new research projects, live-stream panels and virtual films initiatives. This year mark the 20th annual World Rivers Day , which has its roots in the big sussess of BC Rivers Day , which is celebrating its 45th anniversary in Canada's westernmost province and which Angelo founded in conjonction with the Outdoor recreation council . Dear River Enthusiasts, World Rivers Day 2025 is finally upon us this weekend and it’s amazing to see the many different and creative ways in which people across the globe will be celebrating rivers . This year is our biggest celebration yet, with 1000s of events and millions of participants in well over 100 countries spanning 6 continents. Thank you for your amazing efforts on behalf of the world’s waterways! The importance of healthy rivers and clean water has never been more apparent.
